Most of us do take stock of monumental moments, a family member who recovers from illness, a work promotion or a fabulous holiday, but the aura of these fade fast.

We also need to notice and appreciate the many moments each the day that might bring a smile to your face: a shared wink with your child, a fantastic coffee, a tidy cupboard, a great song. That is where the research says happiness is cultivated.

One idea is to seek out 3 things every day that you are grateful for and record them at night. Soon you will start to make a mental note as the day goes on of what you will be adding to your list. This is a wonderful exercise to do with children at bedtime to help them cultivate this skill and start to look for the positives in their day.
