One of the most uplifting and freeing things to do is to create a ‘to stop’ list. It requires us to reflect on how we fill our life and which jobs, obligations and rituals are no longer of value or could be passed on to someone else.

This activity is very powerful personally and as a family. Our children may feel as overscheduled and overwhelmed as us and it is an opportunity to teach life skills and give them some agency. This weekend as everyone to list all of their to do’s, small and large.

Then ask: Does this need to be done at all? Am I the best person to do it? Does this nourish or deplete me? Does this fit in to a bigger picture?

When busy is a badge of honour pruning our to do list can be a challenge but also such a relief.
